So I don't even know where to start this post. I have been obsessed with Basshunter for years and I was so excited to go see him on Friday evening. As much as I kept telling myself that seeing him would be a classy event. You know... Kinda like seeing Josh Groban at the Metropolitan Museum of Art or something like that! Because I like to think that I am a classy person (Candice- do not comment!) But it wasn't, and deep down inside I knew that.
When I started getting ready, I decided that it was going to be such an epic night I needed to document everything! So we start with the outfits:
It started with the hair. Which took longer than hair should ever take. I have curly hair, so I first have to spend 30 minutes blow-drying it and the curly must have taken at least an hour. I used a new mousse, therefore, I blame it on that! Thanks to Busy Bee Lauren for the tips or it may have taken me even longer. And don't mind the vein coming out of my forehead- it's been there since birth.
I wore my trusty Mr. Price jelly shoes. So comfortable, and flat, and the cutest jelly flats I've ever found so far. Plus, you can't beat the price. Especially with the favourable exchange rate!
As for perfume, I had to wear my special occasion perfume. Flower Bomb by Viktor and Rolf. Reese knows I'm serious about where we're going when I spray that stuff.
I wore my Cape Town flea market earrings. I love love LOVE them. And I felt like they were perfect for our classy night.
And of course, I had to wear my trusty snake bangle. Yep, I pulled out all the stops for Basshunter!
And here is the final ensemble. I thought my outfit was quite fitting to go see Basshunter.... Shiny shirt and leggings. Should be good, right?
And then Reese and I decided to have a photo shoot before we left. Conceited? Well it is my bloog!
Reese wore his most "clubby shirt". He said (in his thickest SA accent) "Courts, it's from South Africa so that means its exotic and club worthy."
Back to how I thought our outfits were fitting... Turns out we were dressed completely inappropriately. Or maybe the better word for it would be completely over-dressed.
I should have been wearing something exactly like this:
Or maybe tried something like this:
Maybe I should have invited some of my blogging friends and we could have dressed up like the Spice Girls on drugs?
And my personal favourite... The animal raver...
I was especially upset that I didn't bring my bearded collie hair boots:
Reese would have been dressed more appropriately if he had skipped the shirt and cut off his pant legs. That way when he sweat, he could have look just like this:
(Perfect excuse to post a picture of Channing Tatum hey?)
The lines were insane! Reese and I waited in line for at least 1.5 hours, inhaled a fair amount of cigarette/marijuana smoke, and was offered "pills" a couple times. It was madness. So Reese went off to see if there was a shorter line. Sure enough, he found a line of about 5 people and we were in 5 minutes later.
We got into Stratus at about 9:30pm. Basshunter wasn't going to be appearing till 11pm so Reese and I had a little bit of time to kill. So we danced! The DJ's that played before were A-MA-ZING. Reese and I have never had such fun dancing since our wedding. All the pictures and video's were taken off the phone. So they're not the best quality and because I am not technologically advanced, all the video's are at the bottom of this post. We had fun dancing and slowly made our way to the front of the dance floor. Right around 11pm, Basshunter arrived. OH MY GOSH! He was amazing. I wish the pictures turned out better. But because of the sweaty people and the fog machines, they didn't turn out so nice. But without further ado, my other husband (the Swedish version)... BASSHUNTER:
Oh man! He was soooo worth the pushing and touching other people's sweaty bodies, smelling like a bag of weed, and having ringing ears for hours after. Reese was such a champ for coming with me, and I promise- he actually had fun. He can actually sing most of Basshunter's songs by heart. (shhh... :))
I woke up the next morning with his arm and leg on me. I'd like to say this was a one time thing, but it happens often! Does anyone else have a bed hogger? :)
And this is what I found 5 minutes later:
It was such a great night! I can't wait to see Basshunter again. Only this time I really hope it's at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Inside Stratus!
Such a great opening!
After a while, the front of the club was getting too crowded so Reese and I moved to the back!
